We accept high school applications for students with a GPA of 80% or higher. Our community education committee screens qualified applicants for the program. Each students is provided with uniforms, shoes, backpacks, books and school supplies.
The cost to sponsor a student in high school is $375 per year.
We put heavy weight on the family unit and willingness to be a part of their child’s educational experience. We understand the challenges these families face, many of the families are run by a single mother with multiple siblings in the home. But without the support of the family and willingness to work with their student, we have found that the student has a very low chance of success in school.
The Nicaraguan educational system isn’t doing enough to teach basic skills required to enter college so we have a mandatory “reinforcement class” two times a week, after school which improves grades and confidence levels. We test students regularly to measure learning and retention. Our goal is to have 100% our graduates pass the National University entrance exam which we have achieved every year since we began in 2013. (Only 20% of students pass this exam nationally)
An investment of $375 per year provides each high student with a life-changing opportunity for a brighter future.
